Residential Splash Pad Installation Instructions

Setting up the Gopher Geyser controller

The first thing you will need to do is plan where the control board will go.

The box will need to be mounted near a standard 120v outlet to plug into.

You can use a smart outlet to run the Gopher Geyser from your phone or smart home device.

9 wire-sprinkler wire is needed  to connect to the controller (not included). The wire will need to start at the controller and run to the valve box. Make sure the ground wire used on the control board is used to ground the 8 valves

Setting up the valves and nozzles

This is panned out, simplified example of how the splash pad will need to be installed. This part will need to be customized to your own lawn.

The valves will need to be set in a sprinkler box and the piping will go underground to each nozzle located under the grass.

The wire coming in, comes from the control board. There are 9 wires needed. 1 to ground all the valves and 1 supply wire to each of the 8 valves.

A water supply will needed to supply the manifold. Supplied water can come from either a hose or connected directing into a main line.

Nozzles and wiring setup

1/2″ funny pipe and elbows can be used to connect the pipe to nozzle

Set the nozzle to the height of the expected thatch layer in the grass.

A jumper wire can be used to ground out the valves. This decrease the amount of wires needed to be connected with a wire nut. This will give you 5 wires in one wire nut and 6 in another.

Connect 1 wire to each of the other valves with any color wire. The color of wire from the controller doesn’t matter because the system is random.

Helpful information

Not included in the kit:

  • 9 wire sprinkler wiring cut to length. (from the controller to the valve boxes)
  • 1/2″ PVC pipe and fittings (customized to your design)
  • 8 sprinkler valves (Rainbird is preferred)
  • 2 4-valve manifolds
  • 8 -3/4″ MNPT reduced to 1/2″ socket
  • 16 funny pipe connecting elbows (1 for the nozzle and 1 to connect to the pipe.
  • Funny pipe
  • 2 large wire nuts (for 5-6 wires)
  • 8 small wire nuts (for 2 wires)
  • 2 Sprinkler boxes (It looks cleaner to put 4 valves in one box rather than 8 valves in one)
  • Glue and Cleaner
  • Parts to connect the manifolds to water supply
  • Planning ideas

    • Space the nozzles 4-10 feet apart depending on the number of intended users and available space. (space out more for more users)
    • The remote has a maximum working distance of 25 feet. Plan to have the controller close by or use a smart device. Also a hard wired switch can be used to reset the controller.
    • The valves can be placed in-between sprinklers to help watering dry spots.
